About
Captain John and John’s Guide Service:
I started fishing as
a kid, as most people do, with my brother, my father and grandfather on
saltwater. I never knew about fishing freshwater until I was invited on
a 3 day trip to
Lake
Gaston
in North Carolina
with a few guys I worked with. I was told to get some plastic worms and
some hooks, and a couple of spinnerbaits which I did.
I
remember catching that first largemouth bass off of a dock in Lizard
Creek and I was hooked.
After graduating High
School, I spent four years in the United States Air Force. Then for the
next 25 years I worked in the Fire Department and retired in 2002. I
received my Coast Guard Captains License in 1999 and started guiding on
the Potomac River and other freshwater rivers and impoundments in the
Maryland
and
Virginia
areas.
I now reside in
Brookeville,
Maryland
with my wife Becky and our Black Lab Sadie.
At John’s Guide Service we usually take 1 or 2 persons in each boat.
However, on some occasions can take as many as 3. Things generally get a
little cramped when we do that so we would rather not. We can provide
for group trips and schedule a 2nd or 3rd boat to fish in close
proximity in order to maintain the group. We also have associates who we
highly recommend for Smallmouth fishing on the upper
Potomac River
and The Susquehanna River. Striper fishing on the
Chesapeake Bay
is always fun and we can recommend either light tackle fishing or larger
Charter boat trips.
A new Maryland State Record Largemouth Bass weighing 11.18 lbs. was
recently caught on the
Potomac River
by a tournament angler. Remember, your next cast could be a new record
wherever you fish.
Thanks for taking the time to check
us out and give us a call to book your next fishing trip.
